Starting situation

A customer finds that its existing foils cannot be applied to its agricultural machinery without leaving bubbles or creases.

Task

To develop suitable foils and to optimise the transfer process so that the foil could no longer be damaged even when the agricultural machinery underwent high-pressure cleaning.

Bentlage solution

The thickness of the foil was reduced so that the foil could adjust better to the base. Because the foil is extremely thin, it is now printed using the screen print process. Because transferring the 2.8 m long foil is a highly demanding process, a Bentlage employee travels to the customer’s site to set up the transfer process that has been developed on prototypes in the factory.

The carrier plate will in future be cleaned and prepared using a water-solvent mixture so that the foil can be pushed into the correct position on the plate without leaving bubbles or creases, and can be applied in a much shorter time. Further improvements arise on site: to protect the label from high-pressure cleaning, the corners are now plotted so that they are rounded, rather than square as before. In addition, the pull tab has also been optimised again.
